Collard Greens

serves 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • ½ cup onion, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon Flavour De La Baye Hot Pepper Sauce

  • 3 teaspoons garlic, finely chopped

  • 1 pound collard greens

  • 3 cups water or vegetable stock

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  • 2 teaspoons salt and pepper combined

  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke

Directions:

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, heat oil and butter. Sauté onions and garlic for about 2 minutes, add the Flavour De La Baye Hot Pepper Sauce.

  2. Add collard greens, vinegar, and liquid smoke and saute for 2 minutes. Add the stock or water, cover and bring to a simmer.

  3. Cook for about 40 minutes or until greens are tender. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
